Taming the Wolf Visits Mission Santa Barbara

Thank you, St. Paschal Baylon and Mission Santa Barbara for hosting such a wonderful event to kick off the month of July.

I want to express a special thanks to Rhett Young and Sister Susan Blomstad, OSF—who so lovingly nurtured all who attended. And I would like to thank Father Dave Heney for his continuing and much appreciated support.

It was a pleasure to have the opportunity begin to present concepts from the upcoming book, Taming the Wolf: Resolving the Conflicts Ruining Your Life. The concept I discussed, the “Face of a Franciscan”, plays a key role in the peacemaking approach we are taking. The idea of the “Face of a Franciscan” has become dear to me as I have come to know Saint Francis and his holy manner of working.

It is my dream to combine Face Work, an approach used by mediators, with the “Face of a Franciscan” in the design of a course for schools that addresses the problem of bullying. The positive response of attendees to the idea that we might begin to remedy such problems as we follow the charism of Francis was heartening.

Those who shared their ideas regarding specific applications for conflict resolution work after the presentation provided me with much needed encouragement. Thank you for supporting this project and contributing to its success.

I appreciate having had the opportunity to share ideas after the presentation with many who attended regarding specific applications for conflict resolution work. Thank you for supporting this project and contributing to its success.

We have posted video excerpts from the event on the website for those who were unable to attend. I hope you enjoy the sights of Mission Santa Barbara.

In the fall, shortly after publication of Taming the Wolf, we will begin to hold regular events that focus on how you can use the material in the book. I will guide attendees on brief tours of the contents of Taming in a live setting.

If there are specific aspects of conflict resolution you would like addressed, please submit a comment below so that I can tailor presentations to your concerns.
