Taming the Wolf Presented

Taming the Wolf Presentation
The University Series, jointly sponsored by ten parishes located west of Los Angeles, takes place annually during Lent. The Series provides an opportunity for parishioners to attend presentations given by lecturers who apply faith to a wide variety of issues in our daily lives.

Greg Stone giving a presentation on his book Taming the WolfGreg Stone, author of Taming the Wolf, was pleased to be included in this year’s program. He presented a two-part lecture on conflict resolution, combining contemporary conflict resolution approaches with the peacemaking skills of Francis of Assisi. Stone discussed the famous legend in which Francis tames the fierce wolf of Gubbio, which provides a model for approaching mediation.

Dave Lawrence, currently training to become a deacon, introduced the lecture and offered the opening prayers. Chris DiCesare, playing guitar, opened the presentations. Tracy Stone provided the artwork featured in the slide presentation. GodSpace from Thousand Oaks provided support, making the book available to the public. The staff of the Padre Serra Center in Camarillo (a spectacular facility) made our visit a pleasure—we are indebted to them for their warm hospitality.

Greg Stone giving a presentation on Taming the WolfWe also wish to thank the wonderful audience members who participated with questions, suggestions, and observations, inspiring thought-provoking dialogue. A special thanks goes to Fr. Dave Heney of St. Paschal Baylon who first conceived the University Series program and who continues to be the driving force behind its execution.
