Education

Taming the Wolf Institute offers books and publications as well speakers and workshops on faith-based mediation, peacemaking, conflict resolution, and spiritual direction.

Mediation & Consulting

Taming the Wolf Institute offers mediation designed to resolve a wide range of disputes. We consult with parties, and help them benefit from dispute resolution. We consult with parishes, schools, and other organizations seeking to implement conflict prevention protocols. We also train staff in conflict management.

Bring a Witness

In Matthew 18:15-20 Jesus lays out a protocol for resolving conflict. The second step involves bringing one or more witnesses to meet with your brother with whom you have a dispute. These witnesses help establish truth. In today’s culture this preliminary, supportive step is vital as truth plays an important role in peacemaking. When parties are not committed to the truth, the process rarely works.

The Pastors' and Evangelists' Corner

The pastor plays a vital but often overlooked role in the peace of the community. When civil society breaks down, when civility and justice are in short supply, the culture must rely on its spiritual leaders to reestablish order and maintain the peace. The term “Christ the Mediator” hints at the vital role a pastor must perform on behalf of the Lord. With this in mind, we will establish a regular gathering of clergy for the purpose of studying, exploring and sharing faith-based approaches to peacemaking.

The Assisi Option

Spiritual Direction Centers where disciples can engage in spiritual hermitage in preparation for public ministry are needed. Hermitage participants will explore three core disciplines: faith-based mediation, pastoral counseling, and spiritual direction.

Combat Bullying

Our children need our help combating an epidemic of bullying. We are tasked with protecting the weak and innocent among us. Diminishing bullying is a peacemaker’s task. Using a Franciscan inspired version of the social science discipline of Face Work, we will overcome bullying with a surprisingly positive approach. Calling on the spiritual ability to see the divine in the other, we will halt the spread of bullying.
